Three from four transsexuals that are prostitute in Spain are Latin American

According with this report, the 88.2% of transsexuals women are foreigners. This information is also agreeing with social assistant reports, which statistics talk about 90.1% of foreigners in prostitution.

The population more representative is Ecuadorian, that could be also observed by profile of foreign population living in Madrid. Ecuadorian are about 60.6% of the interviewers. COGAM report said that other communities represented in prostitution population are Spanish (10.1%), Colombian (8.9%), Brazilian (7.3%) and Argentinian (6.1%). Most of them are from Latin American, other foreign women are only 3.1%, from Morocco, Egypt and Romania.

This report was made from 900 persons that received attention by Transmadrid Prevention VIH Program in six month, 200 were transsexuals prostitutes.

A conclusion of this report said that 82% transsexuals women depend on this only job for survive. They suffer exclusion from industrial market because their identities are visible and when they show their documentation to be hire then receive a rejection. Many transsexual women also have other jobs plus prostitution, they are in invisible economy, in jobs way under their capacities.

Transmadrid said all transsexual women that work in prostitution do it voluntarily. But they wish they could have another alternative for work. Most of them don’t have a gender disphory certification or certification of transexuality, which is required for have access to a new identity, in case of being spain citizenship, because foreign people is not on the side of gender identity law in Spain.

This report prove that even though advanced legislation and also consider that Spain is a much more tolerant society, discrmination for gender indentity is also a problem there as well as in Latin America.
